03 / Specimen dossier, plate record

The plate is the first data point in every dossier

Before the bonnet is opened, the inspector records the plate as photographed at the inspection address, then cross-checks it against the VIN and the registration certificate. The four callouts below mark what is logged against that single frame.

Specimen plate record, frame 1 of 12. Captured before the bonnet was opened, with the odometer visible in the same frame.
  1. 1

    Plate format and issuing series

Read from the physical plate, never from the seller listing. A format that does not match the registration certificate is logged as an advisory.

  2. 2

    Region code

Recorded separately from the place of inspection. A car registered in Lviv and inspected in Kyiv is normal and stated as such.

  3. 3

    VIN to plate cross-check

The plate is compared with the VIN on the firewall and the door jamb sticker. A re-stamped or repainted VIN is a fail, not a note.

  4. 4

    Timestamp and odometer

Time of capture and the odometer reading sit in one frame, so every mileage figure in the report has a witness.

Next in the dossier: the OBD-II scan excerpt with raw fault codes and severity.

Specimen extract 04 · On-board diagnostics

Every stored code, printed as the scan tool returned it

Codes below were read in key-on-engine-off and key-on-engine-running states on a single visit. Severity follows the pass, advisory, fail convention used throughout the dossier. The note explains what the code means for the buyer, not what a repair might cost.

Vehicle identifiers, VIN and owner details are withheld from this public specimen.
Module Code Severity Plain-language note
Engine control (ECM) P0299 Fail Turbocharger underboost logged on three of five drive cycles. Boost held roughly 0.4 bar below the stored target under load, so a pressure check of the charge pipe and wastegate was requested before sale.
Transmission (TCM) P0711 Advisory Fluid temperature sensor reading was implausible at cold start. Shift quality stayed inside tolerance across a 26 km road test, so this is recorded as a condition to monitor.
ABS and stability (ESP) C0035 Fail Left front wheel speed signal dropped out above 40 km/h and the ABS lamp was commanded on. Harness and sensor resistance were measured at the connector and passed to you as a line item.
Body control (BCM) B1318 Pass Single low-voltage event stored after a jump start. Codes were cleared and did not return across four start cycles, so no fault is carried into the report.
Restraint system (SRS) B0001 Advisory Driver belt pretensioner resistance sat at the upper edge of the accepted range with no crash data stored. A dealer-level recheck is suggested if the lamp ever illuminates.

The scan is one evidence layer of the dossier, read alongside the maintenance history timeline. A diagnostic scan is a limited assessment performed on a single visit and cannot guarantee that no stored or pending fault appears later. Section 03 · Maintenance history

Six service records, one documented gap

Every row carries the date, the odometer reading at the visit, the work performed, and the source the seller supplied. Where nothing was handed over, the interval stays empty on purpose.

  1. 11 460 km

First scheduled service: engine oil, oil filter

Completed at the brand dealer in Kyiv. The invoice number matches the workshop entry in the service book.

    Dealer invoice
  2. 28 940 km

Scheduled service, cabin filter, front brake pads

Stamped entry with the dealership stamp and the technician's signature next to the mileage field.

    Service book stamp
  3. 44 320 km

    Timing belt, water pump, coolant

Invoice lists part numbers and labour hours. The belt number is checked against the engine code during the inspection.

    Dealer invoice
  4. 2023-02 → 2023-11no reading

No record supplied for this interval

Neither a stamp nor an invoice was handed over. Roughly 27 280 km of use remains unaccounted for between the two surrounding visits.

    Not supplied
  5. 71 600 km

    Front suspension bushings, wheel alignment

Exported from the manufacturer's service portal as a PDF. The export carries the VIN in its header.

    Portal PDF
  6. 88 150 km

Spark plugs, transmission fluid, diagnostic recheck

Latest entry before inspection. Codes logged at this visit are matched against the scan table from the same dossier.

    Service book stamp

Specimen / 04 — Report limits

What this report cannot show

The dossier records what was observed on the day of the visit, at one location, with the vehicle as presented. Everything below sits outside that frame, and we state it before you book rather than after.

  • 01

    Parts that stay hidden

No disassembly. We do not remove bumpers, sump guards, arch liners or interior trim, so corrosion, prior welding or repairs behind those surfaces remain outside the assessment.

  • 02

    Intermittent electronic faults

A module that behaves correctly during the scan logs no fault code. Faults that appear once a week, or only when cold, may not be present on the day of inspection.

  • 03

Paint readings are not a repair history

A measured paint film tells you a panel was refinished, not why. A panel repaired and refinished to factory thickness can read as original.

  • 04

    History recorded outside Ukraine

Our database checks cover Ukrainian registrations. An imported car may carry mileage, damage or write-off records abroad that no check performed here can reach.

  • 05

    Ownership, pledges and legal status

We assess the vehicle, not the title. Liens, pledges, lease terms and the seller's right to sell are checked through the register, as a separate step, not inside this dossier.

  • 06

Seller-supplied records are quoted, not verified

Service book stamps and dealer invoices appear in the timeline with their source named. We do not contact the workshop or the previous owner to confirm them.

A pre-purchase inspection is a limited visual and diagnostic assessment performed on a single vehicle during a single visit. It is not a warranty, not a technical certification and not a promise about future condition. If a fault is not present and not detectable on the day, it is not in the dossier. To see the full structure before booking, read the annotated specimen report, or book an inspection.
